God Willing had its world premiere at the 2016 Aspen Shortsfest on April 6th. Filmmakers Gayle Embrey and Susan G. Drinker attended the screening and Gayle was onstage afterward to answer questions from the audience. The audience asked many thoughtful questions about the role of Muslim women in Palestine.
Aspen Shortsfest 2016 selected Embrey and Drinker’s God Willing as one of their films for their 2016 fest. “This portrait of Palestinian artist Mais Rosol AbuSaa doubles as an inspiring examination of the role of women in Islamic society today.” The film premieres on Wednesday, April 6th during the 5:30pm program.
For over 1 year, Gayle Embrey and Sue Drinker have been filming the story of community members in Battlement Mesa fighting to minimize gas drilling inside their community. The Garfield County Board of County Commissioners will likely render a decision in mid-December and then we’ll go into post production. Stay tuned for further news on the film.
