Beyond The Walls Documentary Film

The modern mural movement began in the United States in the 1960’s in protest against the Viet Nam War.  Activists in other countries soon adopted murals to give voice to their own life experiences.


Beyond the Walls goes behind the murals to find out what motivates these activists to go to the walls to tell the stories of their communities.  This feature-length documentary film provides a unique perspective into the lives of every day people around the world as they work to overcome difficult circumstances.


Beyond the Walls explores the power of community art and examines the history and stories of real people and situations depicted on the walls in Palestine, Israel, Northern Ireland, Liberia, El Salvador, Argentina, Australia, and the United States.  The film premieres in 2014.  Check out the official film website at
